CHRIS THE LION
Selling exotic animals is against the law today. But over fifty years ago, a little lion was put on
sale at Harrods, London’s famous department store. Two young men, Ace and John, saw him
there, sitting in a small cage. 8.1. _____ Finally, they went back and bought him. They named
their new pet Chris and took him to their flat.
A year passed and Chris grew up. The flat was too small for an adult lion. Ace and John
decided to take him to Africa and set him free. However, there was one problem. 8.2. _____
Fortunately, Ace and John found a home for him in a national park, where he soon learned
to hunt.
Ten months later, Ace and John returned to the park to see how Chris was doing. The lion ran
to meet them. That moment was filmed. 8.3. _____ It quickly became a hit.
